Easter Weekend 07

My sister and I spent Easter weekend at my parent's house in East Texas. My grandmother was there also (isn't she cute?) AND we colored eggs! Good times.

Tidbits

The gameshow Deal or No Deal is having their casting call in Dallas this Saturday! I would love to try for it. However, I probably will be in Little Rock this weekend. My old roommate who lives in Ohio is bringing her boyfriend "to meet the family" (the family I'm referring to is our group of friends from Harding). Should be fun to see everyone again.

I like Mike Cope's words on friendship today.
It's nice to know that: 1. There are some people out there that won't stop being my friend even when I'm a pain to be with; and 2. Some friends that I've known for years are still just as close to me no matter how far away they are. Thank you to those special few. I love you!

I'm pleased to report that I have received more than enough funding for my trip to Ghana. I am always amazed at how generous people are. And so very thankful! We leave in 3 weeks!

Not much else to report. Work is fine.

Touch A Life Ministries

Over on her blog, Pam Cope is sending updates on her trip back to Ghana. She is the one that helped rescue the 7 child slaves and had them brought to the Village of Hope. I can't help but feel inspired by her and the courage she has to actually do things instead of just talking about them.

Uh, well, scratch that.

Nope. They're not out. The IV had been in my hand for almost an hour when they came in and told me "your potassium is too low and we don't want you to have a heart attack and die" So they canceled the tonsillectomy. Wow. That was totally unexpected.

How do I feel about it? Although it is disappointing and changes my plans, I see it as a blessing. I am now aware of it and have 6 weeks to fix it before I go to Ghana. The doctor put me on potassium supplements and will be monitoring my progress. He assured me my levels should be up and fine by May 1st. (my labs showed no problems with my kidneys) I will reschedule the tonsillectomy later this year, if my work schedule permits.

So the rest of my Spring Break I am to "take it easy".

Tonsils are comin' out!

I am scheduled to have my tonsils out March 20. I am very nervous, but happy to finally get it done. He said that I might need to get tested for specific allergies later on, if I continue to have problems.

I am probably not going to make it to Spring Sing April 7, but I reserve the right to change my mind!

I will have 6 weeks recovery time before my trip to Ghana. The doctor said that's plenty of time. So, everything is falling into place nicely.

Yay, it's Friday!

I'm glad this week is almost over. I've had a sore throat since last week. Not just a normal sore throat, but a swollen-not enough room in my throat-kinda sore throat. I went to the doc Monday and he agreed that it's time I see an ENT. I keep coming down with various sinus related illnesses. I've been convinced for a while now that I need to have my tonsils out. I'm sure my friends and family are tired of hearing about it. So I have an appointment on Feb 27. Hopefully, he will agree and I can schedule it during my Spring Break, which is the week of March 19, if it's not too late. At this writing, though, I am feeling much better.

Tomorrow we are off to Abilene to see my cousin, Jeremiah, perform as Host for ACU's Sing Song. We have heard how great he is doing, which I'm not surprised. He is very talented! We are excited to see the performance. I know at Harding it was always a huge deal to be selected as host/hostess for Spring Sing, not that I ever tried out. I'm not that talented. But Spring Sing meant so much to the students. It's exciting.

Yes, Ghana again!

Wow, how exciting. I AM going to The Village of Hope again this year, the first two weeks of May. This time, Jeanette is going with me/us. I'm very excited to get to share this experience with a close friend.

Most of my immunizations are still good from last year and the plane ticket is cheaper this year.

Ghana... again?

Wow, I thought I had decided not to go to Ghana again this year. But low and behold I was up half the night last night thinking about it. Could God be telling me something? I'm actually nervous (and excited) about it again. You would think I wouldn't be since I already went, but I am. Will there be money for this? Will I have enough vacation time? Am I going for the right reasons? Will my physical aches and pains be too much to travel that far? Yes, I have lots of fears about this. Are these fears real or just satan trying to hold me back?

Bah, I hate it when I get bogged down with worry. Surely God will answer me soon? We have a meeting Sunday night. Surely I'll know by then if it's the right thing to do. Please pray for me.

I feel very drawn to those kids at The Village of Hope (see pictures). Seems like I should be there...
