Encouraging post about Accra, Ghana

Rachel's sister, Christine, is in West Africa with her family. In this post on her blog, she talks about a recent event. I found it to be very encouraging as I plan my trip to Accra, Ghana in June of this year.

First Vaccines

I received my first two shots yesterday - for Polio and Hepatitis A. My arm was somewhat sore, but not too bad.

So now, for Malaria (required), I have to decide between one prescription that might cause anxiety and depression or the other one that might cause a yeast infection.

AND for Yellow fever (required), it doesn't sound too bad, but insurance doesn't cover it so it's expensive!

AND for Typhoid fever (recommended), I can either get a shot that feels like your arm is falling off or take the pills. I shall opt for the pills, I think.

Oh what have I gotten myself into? :)

It's official

I still know how to change a tire.

Still hoping to go to Ghana

Lord willing, I am going to Ghana, West Africa June 5-13.

Specific Prayer requests:

1. That I receive enough financial support to go.
2. That I have courage.
3. That I am safe.
4. That my mom doesn't lose her mind with anxiety over it.
5. That I can be a help to those going and to those in The Village of Hope.

The Village of Hope

Today I found out that my church is taking a group to Ghana to work with The Village of Hope for 1-2 weeks in June. I'm hoping to find a way to go with them. I would appreciate any prayers on my behalf. Thanks!

THE Letter

I got the letter today. I will not be moving forward on to phase II of the application process. I am sad.

I need something else to obsess about.

Ebay

So, I've been tempted by Ebay again. I used to go to Ebay all the time and look for Amberina pitchers like this one. I collect colored glass pieces, usually hand-blown. I had quit doing that since I don't have a nice hutch and a nice house yet to display them in. But some day... Anyhoo, I did it again. I placed a bid on one. Ooooh. It's soo pretty.

I am also looking for LOST season one, Smallville season four and Gilmore Girls season three. I just love all three of those shows. I'll let you know how it goes.
